Mr. Chairman:

As registered Democrats, we've been learning about Final Five Voting through events with Democrat clubs and LD Meetings. This reform creates a level playing field for candidates and a nonpartisan primary that advances five candidates to the general election, decided by ranked choice voting to ensure majority support and prevent vote splitting.

Our current system of elections allows for the most divisive part of the Republican Party to have an exaggerated influence in state politics. By supporting a Final Five system, the Arizona Democratic Party improves its position as the party of inclusion and the party that can appeal not only to our base but to those that would today identify as Independents, members of Third Parties, and moderate Republicans. Reforming Arizona’s election system ensures that all voters have a voice in their government and that government is accountable to the People. 

We believe that voter dissatisfaction has already increased the call for these reforms over the last several cycles. Championing Final Five Voting allows the Democratic Party to benefit from growing public demand for change to build a more representative democracy.

Election reform isn't easy—but it's gaining momentum nationwide. We urge you to meet with Voter Choice Arizona to explore how Final Five Voting can strengthen our elections and our Party.
