Heard about Ranked Choice Voting (RCV)? Curious about how RCV would work in Arizona? Please come to a RCV “house party” I’m hosting at my office, 2800 N. Central Ave., Suite 1900, on Wednesday, March 29, from 5:00-6:30 pm, to introduce you to Voter Choice Arizona – I’m on the VCA Advisory Board.

RCV (or preferential voting or instant runoff voting) is having a moment, and Voter Choice Arizona is preparing for a 2024 ballot initiative to bring RCV to Arizona. RCV makes it harder for candidates with extreme positions and extremely committed voters who still are a minority to prevail. It thus helps moderates who are more broadly acceptable to independent and swing voters.

RCV is how Rep. Mary Peralta (D-AK) could defeat Sarah Palin, who probably would have won a traditional first-past-the-post election, and as Laurie Roberts wrote, if Arizona’s most fanatical state lawmakers are scared of RCV, maybe it’s not such a bad idea.

As an in person practice we will use Ranked Choice Voting to rank a possible 2024 scenario for Arizona’s Senate seat currently filled by Kyrsten Sinema.

Kazz Fernandes of Voter Choice Arizona will explain RCV, discuss VCA’s plans for 2024, and try to convince you to become an evangelist for RCV. This will be a short presentation. This isn’t a fundraiser (although there will be an ask, of course) but meant to raise awareness and prime you for helping with the initiative. RSVP to me by responding, or on the VCA website at Sam's House Party RSVP .

We're a 501c3 grassroots charity funded almost exclusively by donations. While we'll encourage attendees to donate, there is no minimum (or maximum). You can contribute to support Sam's current fundraising campaign or make your first donation as a sustaining donor before or during the event.
